My Tech Talks:
HAL (Hybrid Assistive Limb)
HAL is my first tech talk topic that I chose, simply because it sounded very advanced and futuristic. It is a exoskeleton robotic suit that latches on to your arms or legs. It moves in a unique way, by sending BES (bio-electric signals) through the padding and into your nerves, which connect to your brain. When your brain thinks of anything involving the product, such as if you want to move a certain distance at a certain speed, the signals will detect the command and it will decide if you are physically well enough to perform it. This results in making your body stronger physically, but it feels weightless at the same time. This product was designed by the Japanese company Cyberdyne, and was made for improving mobility for the elderly and disabled. |
My article for this topic: Japanese Robots: Cyberdyne is taking HAL to Europe!
In this article that I have chosen for this topic, they show all of the accomplishments of HAL's developer, Cyberdyne, including when HAL made its first prototype in the 1990's and when HAL received a global certification for safety in December 2012. They also give a little bit of information about HAL's future, since they already expanded its product line to Europe. Cyberdyne is also thinking of other ways that HAL could be used for, and have made new models of the product so that it could be shared with the rest of the world. Here is a video down below: |

Phantom 2 Vision
The Phantom 2 Vision is my second Tech Talk that I chose, because these days not many people (besides photographers) were buying and using photo cameras as much as they used to. But the Phantom 2 Vision is a better alternative for that. It is a flying drone that you can use to take pictures and videos in HD. It was made by the Chinese company DJI, who has made many similar types of these drones. What I like most about this product is that it can take pictures and videos at angles in which a normal camera can never do, such as a birds-eye view. This product is also on the market at $1,300, and the only complaints I have are privacy issues (such as if you fly this into another persons house). |
My article for this product: DJI makes Phantom 2 Aerial Drone even faster, even more awesome
In this article, mainly the features of the Phantom 2 Vision are shown. Another article that I used to collect information can be found here or in the article summary. It is a review about the product along with bonus information. As always, I will put a little video on this topic :) |
This is where you find my article I based this Tech Talk on.
